Carmen is a high school history teacher from the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile, with a bachelor’s degree in history and aesthetics from the same university. She has a master’s degree in education, specializing in management leadership and educational leadership from the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile.<\/p>\n

She works as executive director of the Fundaci\u00f3n Centro de Apoyo a Personas Sordas (CAPS) and is founder of the SME “La Tiendita Sorda”. In addition, she is part of the board of the Centro de Educadores Sordos (CES), since its foundation in 2018.<\/p>\n

Her areas of interest are related to the accessibility of deaf people to public and private services.
\nHer work experience has focused on teaching in diverse educational contexts, both teaching history and social sciences, as well as Chilean Sign Language. She has taught sign language in several universities, such as Universidad Bernardo O’Higgins, Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educaci\u00f3n, Universidad San Sebasti\u00e1n, among others.<\/p>\n

As an activist, she was part of the team of deaf women who achieved the drafting of Law No. 21.303, which amends Law No. 20.422 and recognizes the Chilean sign language as part of the heritage of our country.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
