Jimena Luna Benavides is an Industrial Civil Engineer with a specialization in Computer Science from Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO), where she participated in the formation of the Association of Students with Disabilities AEDIS-UFRO.
She is currently a Project Coordinator at the Center for the Development of Inclusion Technologies (CEDETi) and the Ibero-American Center for Personal Autonomy and Assistive Technologies, both at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Since 2020, she has been the Founder and Executive Director of Fundación Vida Independiente Chile, an organization dedicated to promoting the autonomy, self-determination, and community living of persons with disabilities.
She possesses extensive experience in activism, advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, especially girls and women with disabilities. Her research interests include the autonomy of persons with disabilities through the use of assistive technologies, support services, and accessibility, as well as participation in popular elections, and maternity and paternity.
