    • It is shown that there are strong relationships between the members of the Company. These relationships help them to recognize their identities as persons with disabilities. The members manage to recognize these identities through art.

  5. Todo lo que me dicen que no puedo hacer [All the Things They Say I Can’t Do]

    Published by Muñeca de Trapo, this book brings together short stories based on the real lives of Chileans with disabilities who have paved the way in various fields. Through stories written by Florencia Herrera and illustrated by Pablo Luebert, the work aims to provide diverse role models for children and youth, demonstrating that disability does not define the limits of what can be achieved.

    The book shares the life stories of:

    • Pamela Molina: A deaf woman and Executive Director of the World Federation of the Deaf.

    • Sebastián Solorza: An actor with Down Syndrome, TV series star, and winner of the “Best Newcomer” award at the 2023 Caleuche Awards.

    • Francisca Mardones: Paralympic shot put gold medalist at Tokyo 2020 and recipient of the 2022 National Sports Award.

    • Héctor Polanco: An activist with schizophrenia and member of the Villa Solidaria ALSINO.

    This text aims to contribute, from a scientific research perspective, to the accessible architectural design of residential habitats. It presents design recommendations at the different territorial scales studied: housing, housing complexes, and neighborhoods. These recommendations are intended for use by residents, construction companies, and agents involved in the design and implementation of public policies in the housing and urban fields. The contributions of Corporación Accesible and SERVIU are acknowledged through their manuals and guidelines on this subject.

  9. Memorias invisibilizadas: conmemoración del golpe de Estado desde la perspectiva de personas con discapacidad [Invisibilized memories: commemoration of the coup d’Etat from the perspective of people with disabilities]

    • As part of the 50th anniversary of the 1973 coup d’état in Chile, various commemorative events were held, reflecting the diversity of memories in recent years.
    • This study focuses on the commemorative action organized at the National Stadium by the Colectivo Nacional por la Discapacidad (CONADIS), which involved displaying a banner created by its members.
    • From the perspective of social psychology of memory, this action can be seen as an expression of “other” memories, which are usually excluded from dominant narratives.
    • Through a critical discourse analysis of focus groups held before and after the event, three main themes were identified:
      1. Artistic intervention and commemorative discourses of the coup’s 50th anniversary from the perspective of disability;
      2. Reflections on the process of creating the banner; and
      3. Memory elements related to human rights violations against people with disabilities.
    • This study shows how the collective process of artistic creation and artistic intervention positions artivism as a form of political activism that allows people with disabilities to claim their place in society.
